Seattle is certainly a beautiful city with much to offer, but it is not the only destination worth exploring in the area. In fact, there are many charming towns not far from Seattle. If you have not yet traveled to some of these places, they are well worth the time and effort to see them. Here are a few of the top areas around Seattle that you should visit. If you are able to schedule your trip during one of the noteworthy events held in these places, your experience is sure to be memorable.

Leavenworth

Leavenworth is gorgeous at any time of year, and it is home to some exciting festivals. If you are in the area in December, be sure to attend the Christmas Lighting Festival. You will be dazzled by trees bedecked in more than 500,000 lights. In May, you can go to a Bavarian Maifest, where you may sample classic German cuisine and enjoy live entertainment.

Snoqualmie

If you get a chance to see Snoqualmie, you won’t want to miss Railroad Days. This annual community festival takes place in August, and it celebrates the town’s origins in railroads and logging. No matter what time of year you go, check out the Snoqualmie Casino. Something fun is always happening at the Casino, from gaming to dining to concerts to stand-up comedy.

Burien

Burien, which is now being newly served for rides by Stita Taxi, is another town near Seattle that has plenty to offer. Every Thursday from May through October, the farmer’s market in the town square is always a top choice for locals and tourists. People can browse over 40 vendor displays at this lively farmer’s market every week. In December, the Normandy Park Winterfest is a magical occasion, which includes tree lighting, cookie decorating, and carolers.

Vashon

In the summertime, you can watch the Vashon Strawberry Festival Grand Parade, which features floats, costumes, drill teams, and performance art. Another fun event on this island is the annual Vashon Sheepdog Classic in the spring, which is a celebration of the working sheepdog.

Poulsbo

In Poulsbo, you might attend the Viking Fest in May. You can see live entertainers, the works of local artisans, and sample traditional Norwegian food at this festival. The Winter Rendezvous is another festival worth checking out if you’re going to Poulsbo. It features a variety of activities, including a poker run, a scavenger hunt, and a bonfire.
